Working group Bulk semiconductors
Growth and characterization of bulk semiconductors

IKZ,T. Turschner
Large size semiconductor crystals with high purity and quality are the basis for electronic and optoelectronic components. Increasing the crystal yield and crystal quality requires, on the one hand, increasingly detailed knowledge of the growth conditions and the formation of crystal defects and, on the other hand, increasingly sophisticated crystal-growing equipment technology and metrology.
Consequently, this working group deals with both fundamental aspects of crystal growth and the corresponding technological issues. In addition to the elementary semiconductors silicon and germanium and the classic III-V compound semiconductors such as GaAs and InP, the working group is also concerned with semiconductors with wide bandgap semiconductors such as SiC, GaN, AlN or Ga2O3 as well as with II-VI semiconductors for detector applications.
